Our Engagement in Amsterdam.

Updated: Jan 29, 2019

Brant and I knew pretty early on that we were each others “people” and a year after we started dating, I started dropping hints haha.

My birthday was in early February. We were going to a nice dinner and Brant told me, “I have something else to give you as well, but I thought it would be more fun to give you in Europe.” We were going to be in Europe over Valentine’s Day, so of course my mind goes… “It’s a ring!”

I decided to keep this to myself, in case it didn’t happen, but the night before we left for Europe, I had dinner with one of my best friends, Ashley Tisdale, and during conversation, I told her that I suspected it might happen.

Ashley, being the fantastic actress that she is, says, “You know, Kim, I talked to him at your birthday and I don’t think it’s going to be for a while, probably not until later this year. I just don’t want you to be disappointed. Just go and have fun.”

I find out later that Brant had told Ashley he was proposing, so she calls him after dinner and says, “She’s on to you.”

The next day, Brant presents me with a gift of socks and says, “This is part one of your birthday gift. The other part, you’ll get in Manchester." When we arrived in Manchester he says, “Your main gift is a spa day while I’m working.” I love massages, so I'm happy, and he did a great job of leading me off his tracks.

Rumor has it, that if you kiss on Magere Brug, you'll be in love forever.

Anyway, on Valentine’s Day, we arrived in Amsterdam and took a walk around the city. He was cracking his knuckles a lot, which I thought was because he was cold, but really, he was nervous! Brant timed it perfectly to arrive at Magere Brug at Sunset. At this point, I wasn’t suspecting anything, and he proposed! It was beautiful, perfect, private and romantic. Le sigh... what a dreamboat!

Brant took this photo of me right after. Obviously, I was surprised!

After this moment, Brant had made a reservation at Librije's Zusje Amsterdam, an acclaimed two Michelin star restaurant. We had an incredible meal, which you can read about here. We then went home to the hotel to Facetime with our families. My parents already knew because Brant had called my Dad prior to proposing, but it was fun to share in the excitement with everyone!

You can read about the rest of our trip to Amsterdam here.
